summer dress for Marie

I made a little dress for Marie out of an old tank top. It has two huge holes on the back already. I guess it comes from playing in the garden, climbing trees and other wild outdoor activities. She just loves to wear dresses and play with boys :).

the straw object

 These are the photos I promised to take from the magazine (Marianne bydlení). I love this!!! I can´t stop looking at the photos, I love what they did with the balcony. Most of all I love the straw "chandelier", the flowers and the colourful mosaic on the wall. I wish it was my idea, I´m sorry to say it wasn´t :). The designer is genius. I kind of wish she came to our house and made something similar with the whole place.

straw ornaments

How awesome are these straw "himmeli" ornaments? I found these above via Hydrangea girl, but at first I saw a great picture in a magazine showing a huge object made from colourful straws. I´ll show that one later, I can´t make myself take a photo of the magazine page. Inspired by that, I made my own version - I´m sorry to say mine didn´t turn out as splendid as I imagined :). Anyway, it´s a start! I´ll try again for sure...

Next time I´ll definitely use bigger straws without the bending part, and I´ll try out a different joining method. I used thin wire with the first one, but it didn´t really work out. I want to hang it somewhere near the ceiling in the kids room, and I´m inspired to make or hang some more "flying" objects in there.

I´m so lazy lately! I just want to sleep, eat, sit and don´t move. I need to change that. The weather is great, sunny, but not too much hot. We are much more active this summer than last year; visiting people and having a lot of guests.

I´m trying to make the girls´room in the attic a beautiful, girly, romantic place. I love the new carpet, it looks perfect there, and I made a "hoola hoop tent" - I found a tutorial online. I might just use some bigger piece of fabric, the one I took is a bit short. I´ve improved the tent a bit since I took the photo, more pictures to come for sure. The place needs cleaning and some organisation. We bought a red dresser (love it!), that still needs to be assembled, but there are still a lot of toys that need better storage. I really like the red - black - wood colour scheme that´s going on here. I´d like to continue with that and add some red chairs for the little table (not pictured here). We´ll see. Another thing I need to get done is to deal with the kid clothes and shoes that I keep here as well. One day I´d like to sort everything and maybe get some better storage for the children gear.
