chickenpox
We had such a hard time lately with sick Andulka... She seemed to be back to her old self today, playing happily and eating, so I hope it´s coming to an end.
I´m still not able to paint! It´s a strange situation for me - nothing to do in the evening. I want to do something a bit different, maybe. I´d like to make a comic or some kind of illustrated story. I just need to find the story!

new carpet for the living room
We bought a new carpet for the living room! I´ve wanted one for a long time, but I couldn´t decide if it´s a good idea or not. I hope it won´t get too dirty! I love it. From now on, everything I get for our home must be something that would also fit into villa Vilekulla :). This carpet definitelly looks like that.
I also bought a beautiful floral carpet for the kids room, but I still have to take photos of it. I cleaned the room today, and I want to work on it some more, and I need to take some photos! I would like to make or build some kind of shelter in the girls´room. More about that soon...

a day in the city
There were (and still are) floods in many parts of our country, also the capital. I went to Prague on the first day after the long rain. I didn´t bring my camera, because I thought it´s going to rain again, but I took many photos with my cell phone. I´m looking for some inspiration for my paintings. I see some gray houses in my future... again :).
I met my friend Anna, we went to a great restaurant and saw a fancy shop window :).

Karin Mamma Anderson
I really like paintings by Karin Mamma Anderson. Especially the interiors, so well done and inspiring. I have a huge canvas at home that was a gift and I´m wondering what to paint on it...

exhibiton photos
Ha, I´ve been neglecting this blog a lot for sure! The exhibition opening was great, extraordinary, beautiful, I loved it! Such a great evening. The place was really beautiful, I couldn´t believe how pretty it looked when it got darker outside, with candle lights and everything. Everybody was sweet and it was just perfect. People liked my paintings! Of course, haha. We got home at 23.30, and although it was very late and we were tired, we drank some wine (we didn´t have any at the exhibition), and went to bed even later. I wasn´t able to fall asleep, as thoughts about the evening were busy flying in my head.
Now I´m feeling kind of empty, I was so busy painting the last months that I want to have a little rest now. Also, I don´t know what to paint, really... I mean, there are many ideas, but I don´t know where to start. I´m certainly going to take some time off painting :).

exhibition in May
So it´s official :). My next, long awaited and big exhibition will take place at 22 May in Prague. It´s going to be my third exhibition this year; I´m very lucky that people want to see my paintings hanging in public places! Now all I have to do is work hard, so that I finish everything I need for the exhibition (though I´m not sure I can accomplish that). I´m looking forward to it very much! I´m just afraid not many people will come, as it´s quite late in the evening... and Wednesday. Please, come if you can! I´ll be definitely there :).

my dream house and interior design
I just want to live in Villa Villekulla :). I love this house and everything that´s inside it. That furniture and colors, the wood panelling! Love it!
Also, Pippi is my hero. Her story and personality will always fascinate me.

baby pants for Anna
I made pants for Andulka today. They were very fast to make, and also something I had in my mind for a long time. I love stripes! I was inspired by baby pants I saw online by the luxurious brand Manymonths (they make nice and pricey clothes for children from bio cotton). The cut with the inset fits well over a cloth diaper. They are still a bit long, but that´s ok. I also made a felt crown for Marie, pictures later.
I hope the spring will come soon to us. Marie´s very ill and I know only warm weather will cure her... Sometimes I wish we moved somewhere warm and near the sea or something... so that we didn´t have to deal with these winter diseases.

inspiring paitings by Hana Púchová
These paintings from artist Hana Púchová appeal to me so much! This style of painting is very close to me. In this collection she paints her friends´ interiors (living rooms?) and it feels so homey and intimate. This is exactly what I love in art.

Hana Zárubová
I just read that Hana Zárubová (I´ve written about her earlier) has won Grand Czech Design 2012 price for her colection Panto.no. I LOVE it!!! I loved her designs earlier, but these looks appeal to me even more. I love those drapey dresses and high necklines. The whole collection can be seen here: lookbook. If I were a millionaire, I would buy one of her dresses. Now I´m thinking about trying to make something similar myself. Hmm... I still have some light cream colored knit. But I love the black dresses the best.

forest animals
I love the mobile liza jane made for her baby. At first I though: I would sooo love to make something similar, too. I had the idea to buy an old store bought mobile and replace the animals (whatever it comes with) with handmade animals/figures. And so I did. I bought a second hand mobile (we call it "carousel to hang above the crib" here, it fastens to the crib, so that I don´t need to hang it from the ceiling, which is quite problematic here) and started to think about what to make. I was thinking about some gnomes initially, but then I remembered I really like wild animals like foxes, deers... So I started to make strange forest animals. At first there was a hedgehog. In fact, it´s hedgehog´s ghost (some of you may recognize this from one of my paintings :). Then there was a squirrel - yellow, because I didn´t have the right color of felt for it. The third one is a wolf. I´m also planning to make a fox and deer, as I mentioned above.
The only problem is I kind of started to like the actual animals on the mobile I bought :). And I don´t want to cut them off and replace them. Any idea what to do with these new handmade ones...?
